Process:
Once a location for a Bad Ass Coffee Company has been established,
a representative of The Land Mind Super Crew will come to the site
for an initial design survey. Whether the client has a vanilla box
or a funky space, the Super Crew representative will shoot a series
of photographs, document the proposed sight dimensions, and establish
a groove with the owner. This initial visit will facilitate the
following:
Developing a level of comfort with the ownership by exploring
the design
potential with them on site before developing the model.
The
first of a 3 phase photo history of before images to
develop a scale model and use for the web site (both the owners
and Land Minds).
A scaled foam core model of the store (for design layout,
budget development)
A general reference floor plan for contractors, city planners,
and the owners archive.
An advanced insight for the Super Crew into how the local
culture might influence the design.
An evaluation of the locations available resources
(lumber yards, shipping companies, libraries, housing, etc.)
In seven to ten days the Super Crew will establish a cost
based on the following:
Model creation (finished model remains the property of Land
Mind Productions for exclusive use in the Super Crew Bad Ass Museum).
Available floor, counters, and wall space.
The ordering and shipping of materials to the location
Interfacing with subcontractors (plumbing, electrician, cabinetmaker,
etc.)
Cost and kind of materials (for example: palm trees, surfboards,
murals, neon, fish tank, prints, lights, cabinets, counters, paint,
bamboo, grass matting, etc.)
Length of time and labor size (the average has been 4 to
5 individuals working for 15 to 20 days).
Housing (rentals being the most efficient recently)
